Scam Alert: Beware of Fake Visa Websites, Fake Agents Claiming to Represent Luxembourg, and Fake Job Opportunities
The Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg wishes to draw the public’s attention to the increasing number of scams related to visa applications and purported job offers in Luxembourg that are being circulated online and on social media.
1. Fake Embassies in Africa and Fake Invitations
Some scammers are currently sending fake invitations purportedly issued by Luxembourgish embassies that do not exist. These invitations may appear legitimate and may use logos resembling our official ones.
The list of Luxembourg's diplomatic and consular missions can be found on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs:
2. Fake Agents Claiming to Represent Luxembourg
Scammers may offer services to help you obtain a Luxembourg visa. Some falsely claim to work for Luxembourg and have even forged fake documents and identification cards.
Luxembourg visas are issued only through official procedures and by diplomatic or consular representations. The Embassy of Belgium in Kenya is the competent authority for processing visa applications on behalf of Luxembourg.
3. Beware of Job Offers That Seem Too Good to Be True
Fake agencies and recruiters may promise guaranteed employment in Luxembourg in exchange for payment.
No job in Luxembourg can be guaranteed in exchange for payment. Luxembourg employers never ask for money as part of the recruitment process.
